Metropolitan conference: EYE on the future
Invitation
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 2013 Metropolitan Conference, the conference of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, on Thursday 7 February, at the EYE film Institute in Amsterdam. We will be offering you an inspiring, challenging and varied programme. Leading international speakers will present their vision of the future of the Metropolitan Area. Administrators, entrepreneurs and opinion leaders in the spatial planning and economic sectors will enter into debate with you on the shared task of strengthening the international competitive position of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
You can compile your own programme, as you would at a festival. You may choose to take a seat in the audience and listen to inspiring lectures, enter into a heated debate on current issues or have a more sedate discussion with fellow professionals, enjoy film clips of our Metropolitan guests, or participate actively with your metropolitan partners in the workshops. You can even plan your own breaks. Mayor Eberhard van der Laan will be your host. Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Minister of Infrastructure & the Environment will give the closing address.

Lessen uit Vancouver
Voortgang MRA-dossiers
Onlangs is de voortgang van een aantal belangrijke MRA-dossiers belicht. Dit gebeurde aan de hand van presentaties en een schriftelijke toelichting.
De presentaties handelden onder meer over de Gebiedsagenda, RRAAM en het bestuurlijke MIRT-traject. Ook is een voortgangsnotitie gepubliceerd met achtergrondinformatie over de verschillende structuurvisies en onderzoeken.
Akkoord over RRAAM
Rijk en regio zijn het eens over de toekomst voor het gebied Amsterdam-Almere-Markermeer. Almere wordt uitgebreid met 60.000 woningen. Daarnaast wordt geïnvesteerd in bereikbaarheid en natuur.
De afspraken zijn vastgelegd in de ontwerp-Rijksstructuurvisie RRAAM. Het toekomstperspectief is een forse uitbreiding van Almere. Het Markermeer-IJmeer groeit uit tot een omvangrijk natuur- en recreatiegebied, van essentiële waarde voor de aantrekkingskracht van de regio. Dit alles gebeurt via een zogenaamde adaptieve aanpak; zonder gefixeerde einddatum, op basis van concrete marktvraag.
